Sharing Anchored Folders/Files in Egnyte

Step 1: Log into Egnyte, navigate to the desired folder, and select More>Share Folder with Anchor.

Step 2: Select "Enable Sharing" in the top right of the window (see image below). Once enabled, you will have multiple controls you can implement.

You may choose to give "Edit" or "View" access.

Edit allows the recipient(s) to make edits/collaborate and the recipient will need to have the Anchor agent on their endpoint.

View will send a read-only copy of the folder and its contents.

Link Expiry can be set to a date of your choice. This is the date in which the folder will no longer be viewable. By default, this is set to 60 days.

Permissions allow 2 choices of control:

Anyone with a password- user will be prompted to create a password which will be required by other users to access the anchored files/folders. Once created, "Save & Copy URL". The link and password can now be shared with the desired recipients.

Restricted Access- user will be prompted to enter the email address of the desired recipient(s). You may then select the boxes "Notify the above users with an email" and/or "Allow unprotected download". Allowing unprotected download will safely deliver the data to the recipient until the folder is downloaded.  Now select, "Save and copy URL". The recipient addresses entered will now receive an email with the shared link including the option to download the content.

To share an Anchored file in Egnyte, right-click the file and "Share With Anchor". From here the process is the same as sharing an Anchored folder, the only difference is the "Allow Unprotected Download" checkbox is not an available option for sharing files. This is only available when sharing folders.
