This article will guide users on how to get started with Anchor starting with your first email from the Anchor team!

Install the Anchor agent:

Step 1: Review our Minimum System Requirements article.

Step 2: The primary admin from your organization will receive a welcome email from the Anchor team (help@anchormydata.com). Accept the Invitation and you will be redirected to your browser to create your login credentials for the admin dashboard.

Step 3: Sign into the admin dashboard and select installers.

Step 4: Select the download icon next to the desired agent version in the Downloads column.

Step 5: Unzip the installer zip file you downloaded from the Anchor Admin Dashboard. To run, click the DAtAnchorInstallerApp.exe.

Step 6: Enter the Organization ID/Name and a reboot will be required.

Step 7: After reboot, sign in the agent by following the prompts given. Tip: the agent is located in the system tray if it is not automatically displayed after reboot.

Configure settings in the Admin Dashboard:

Step 1: Select Settings>User roles>Add new user role.

Step 2: Configure the user role as desired, to learn more Click Here.

Step 3: Add users to the user role by clicking the blue box to the left of the user role, then select add user.

Step 4: Enter the users you want to assign to this user role and select Add.

Step 5: Navigate to Settings>Global policies and configure the access rules, timing control settings, and specify your valid email domain for your organization.

Start using Anchor:

Step 1: Open file explorer, create a new folder, create some test files inside of that folder, and add text to those files (Anchor doesn't encrypt 0 kb files).

Step 2: Right click>Anchor my data>Anchor my files on your folder(s) of choice. Click Here to watch a short video explanation.

Step 3: Double click an Anchored file inside the folder you created and notice that it opens as normal.

Step 4: Drag that same Anchored file to your desktop and attempt to open. Notice that you receive an Access Denied message because you are now out of context with one or more access rules. This file is now in a location that you have not designated as protected, therefore Anchor will not open this file.

Step 5: Move this Anchored file back to your protected folder and attempt to open. Notice is opens as normal again now that you are back in compliance with all access rules.

Step 6: Right click that same Anchored file and view the access logs. You may now view what actions have taken place around this file.
