How end users download and open shared Anchored files

This article will demonstrate the end user experience of downloading an Anchored file in an unprotected format. This is when using the "allow unprotected download" sharing feature. To learn more about this feature Click Here

Step 1: After receiving an email with a shared link, select link underlined at the end of the sentence.

Step 2: A new window will open in your browser, enter your email address.

Step 3: Enter the 6 digit verification code that was sent to your email. Note, this code expires after 15 minutes.

Step 4: The user may now select Open or Download as zip

Selecting open will display the file in a new tab on your browser. To download the data proceed to step 5.


Step 5: Before downloading the Anchored data, users must accept the terms and conditions.

Step 6: Select Accept and continue and an email will be sent to your email address.

Step 7: After receiving a new email, select Download now

Step 8: A new window will open in your browser, select Download as zip. A zip file will be downloaded and can be viewed in your downloads folder in file explorer.


Notes: 

  • Non-Supported file extensions are prohibited from being shared. If a user tries to upload a file with the non-supported file extension, the user will see the following error messageTo learn more about managing supported file extensions Click Here.
  • All file extensions which are are added to the Authorized file extensions tab in the Admin Dashboard may be shared. However, when sharing in a view-only format only certain file types can be viewed in your browser which include the following:

    pdf,txt,doc,docx,ppt,pptx,xls,xlsx,png,jpeg,jpg,mp4,xps,xml,htm,html,rtf,mhtml,csv,xlsm,xlsb,gif
