GUI installation - Anchor 5.3+

This article demonstrates how to install the Anchor desktop agent v5.3+ manually.

For instructions on installing the desktop agent on Windows Server 2016 and above, scroll to the bottom of this article.

Installing Anchor 5.3+ on Windows 10 and 11

Steps

1. Ensure you have completed all the items in Minimum System Requirements.
2. Download the Anchor installer zip file.
   1. Go to the admin dashboard and click installers.
   2. Click the download icon corresponding to your desired version of Anchor (note that this guide is for Anchor 5.3+, for earlier versions, click here).
   3. Unzip the downloaded zip file to get the AnchorInstaller.exe executable.
      

3. Double-click on AnchorInstaller.exe to launch the GUI.

4. Enter your organization ID in all lowercase.

5. The installation will start, and AnchorInstaller.exe will display a progress bar.

6. Once installation is complete, you will be prompted to reboot. Please click on the Reboot button to complete the installation. Rebooting is mandatory for Anchor to function correctly.

7. Finally, sign in to the Anchor agent.

Installing Anchor 5.3+ on Windows Server

1. Ensure you have completed all the items in Minimum System Requirements.

2. Download the Anchor installer zip file.

   1. Go to the admin dashboard and click installers.
   2. Click the download icon corresponding to your desired version of Anchor (note that this guide is for Anchor 5.3+).
   3. Unzip the downloaded zip file to get the AnchorInstaller.exe executable.

3. Open Command Prompt/Powershell with admin permissions.

4. Navigate to the folder where the extracted AnchorInstaller.exe is located.

5. Run the command AnchorInstaller.exe --org-id <org-id> --skip-os-check.

6. Reboot the computer.

7. Sign in to the Anchor agent.
