Critical bugfix: data corruption when using the xcopy command or Windows CopyFileEx API
Anchor agent version 5.3.0 comes with a critical bugfix that prevents your data from being corrupted when you copy files using the Command Prompt/Powershell utility xcopy
or any other application that uses the Windows CopyFileEx
API.
We strongly recommend updating Anchor to version 5.3.0 as soon as possible. You can do so by navigating your web browser to the Anchor admin portal, then clicking Installers and clicking the download icon next to Anchor_v5.3.0.
Doing this will download a zip file onto your computer.
Extract the zip file, and you will see AnchorUpdater.exe.
then follow the instructions here to update Anchor. AnchorUpdater.exe
is a standalone file that can update any version of Anchor from v2.1.7 onwards.
More details on the bugfix
This critical bugfix resolves an issue where users running Windows 10 (update KB5025221) and Windows 11 experience file corruption when copying files to a network share.
After analysis and regression testing, we understand that the issue does not occur in common user workflows like open, edit, save, save-as, ctrl+c and ctrl+v, and move files. It only occurred when xcopy command is used with /y /j parameters, to copy files from any folder to a network folder.
Anchor Updater
Anchor version 5.3.0 comes with a standalone update tool, AnchorUpdater.exe.
This tool allows you to update Anchor on your computer quickly. It performs the necessary steps as well as restarting your computer when needed. AnchorUpdater.exe
can also perform 'silent' updates. Silent updates do not need any user input. Silent updates allow you to manage unattended updates for multiple computers. Click here for more details on the Anchor updater.
